OVERVIEW

Do you hate climate change? Do you also love walks and want to take advantage of the weather? Well you can get educated on environmental justice AND skip around outside if you sign up for our trip!!!

The school of Architecture is hosting Michael Mendez for an environmental justice talk this Monday evening! Michael is an assistant professor of environmental planning at UC Irvine, and author of the book “Climate Change from the Streets”. During this talk, we’ll hear about how to incorporate environmental justice into global climate change policy! We’re super pumped for the talk because Michael talks about the climate activism happening on the ground by low-income people of color, which is so often overwritten in our narrative of climate justice. AND to be able to explore it with some of the most wondrous dirt-lovin people on grounds?!? MAGIC.

Since we are outdoors club, we also thought that a nice little walk would be nice. SOOOO we’re planning on reveling outside together for about half an hour before the talk. Feel free to revel, attend the talk, or both!!

PLAN:
4:30 meet up at the rotunda for a little walk
5 talk at campbell hall!
Not sure when this talk ends but prob 6/6:30 be on our merry little ways, enlightened with environmental justice knowledge…and then keep talking about EJ in other parts of our lives!
