EVEN MORE GAULEYFEST CLIMBING?? (FRIDAY)

OVERVIEW

GAULEY FEST IS UPON US. I AM SO EXCITED I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN. so yeah we’re going to go up a wee bit early (7 or 8am…) and climb all day at THE NEW. Where? we will decide officially later as a group based on what people want to do on the way out. I am partial to summersville lake or the upper meadow at this moment. Much about this trip’s location and departure time is malleable. Grades around 5.8-5.upper10s?idk

This will be a small group so I’m happy to take 1-2 beginners to sport climbing but who have some form of previous climbing experience and try and teach you some things! Otherwise you should know how to lead climb, lead belay, and clean confidently.

The Plan:
leave in the morning
3 hour drive there
get there, climb climb climb until we are tiiiired
quick drive (~30 min) to to gauley fest site. fun time.

You bring:
– climbing harness
– HELMET
– climbing shoes
– chalk
– belay device
– water (at least 2 liters)
– lunch and snacks (you will also be responsible for bringing food for your meals at Gauley fest)
– layers

I bring:
– ropes
– draws
– alpines, quads

Climbing is inherently dangerous and you must be confident in lead climbing, belaying, and cleaning routes to come.
