OVERVIEW

For those of you brave enough to take a long car ride with me, I will offer you the best padding weekend of your life. I’m going home for fall break and want to take some good paddlers with me to hit up some rivers local to my home – Asheville, NC. I want to take some sweet movie footage, so pull out your best moves and let’s head south! I am planning to leave Thursday afternoon because I have no Friday classes, but am willing to adapt to those that actually work hard in school… just send me an e-mail and we’ll make it work!
On the way to Asheville, we will stop in Charlotte, NC at the new man made kayak part equipped with a conveyor belt for those of us that paddle so hard we cant walk (check out http://www.wetdawg.com/RSS/B2/htdocs/artman/show_article.php/whitewater/2006/05/whitewater.white_park.html for more info). Then we will continue to Boone, NC (on the way) and paddle my personal favorite, Wilson Creek (Check out http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/1146/ for details).
Here is where it gets fuzzy. If enough people just want to paddle Friday, they could go home from Wilson creek or camp and paddle another day. I will be going home to Asheville, and anyone is welcome for free lodging, food, local music (supplied by my dads sweet band), and a good time. I will spend much of the weekend paddling local rivers (check out http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/state-summary/state/NC/). I’m not going to list what I will run because it will depend on water levels, but here are some good ones to check out that I will potentially run: Brush creek, French broad (Barnard to hot springs), green river ( Tuxedo Powerplant to trail above Hungry Creek), Nantahala, Pigeon gorge, spring creek, Watauga (Guys Ford Bridge to Watauga Lake), and maybe more.
These rivers are serious rivers, so please only join if you are a solid paddler (must be very comfortable in class III+). Though anyone can join, I am will only take those that can convince me they can handle it, so please only sign up if you are confident in your abilities. We will work out logistics once I figure out who all is coming and what sort of paddlers we have. It’s going to be amazing, so sign up fast!
