OVERVIEW

Take in panoramas of fall color from the top of Brushy Mt. in the Rich Hole Wilderness in Alleghany County. The Rich Hole is a federally protected wilderness area located in the George Washington National Forest. The trail will be 12 miles of orange and yellow Appalachian wonderland. If we get another good rain next week, the bubbling brooks may even serenade us after a summer of silence.

Ok schmulzy sales pitch aside, the fall colors should be about peak next weekend in that area, AND firearms season doesn’t start until the first weekend in November. So we have one last chance to get out in the woods before the weekend warriors take over.

This trip will be a fun challenge as well. The trail will be steep in places and has two spots with major vertical footage. Most of it though will be shallow downhill grade. It may also get chilly. Don’t go if you can’t be prepared for cool weather and rain.

I can drive, but need two cars for the trip, so this won’t happen if I can’t get at least one other driver. Trip limit is 8, but I may up that based on interest.

Sign up now and get the ______ (insert choice word here) outa Charlottesville next weekend.
