Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
We will be leaving here on Friday, October 1, and driving up to WV to camp for the night. We will be climbing all day Saturday and Sophie will be setting up a trip for those who don’t want to raft, but want to go climb for the day. You need to have some climbing experience to climb, but this won’t be an advanced trip.
Sunday we will be rafting the upper fall gauley with Songer. You do not need to have rafted before to do this and believe me it is awesome. I know this is short notice, but this is for all those who can’t make it one bridge day (and if you want to do both then by all means do so!). We will be done by around 2 and then we’ll drive back, with getting ready to leave and going we should be back by around 9 (I am estimating a later time).
I have reserved 10 spots with Songer, since this is short notice I didn’t want to be overzealous. Each person will have to call in and pay on their own. The trip is limited to 10. If more want to go then I will reserve more spots, but not until people have paid.Once you have signed up I will give you instructions and the reservation number. We have the reservation until Wed, Sept 29. So you must pay by then or we may not get the spots we reserved. Please let me know your money situation (when you willbe paying, etc) So that I can get anyone on the waiting list on.
The club provides all climbing equipment. For rafting you will need to wear something you can get wet (bathingsuit, etc) and shoes that can get wet (water shoes, sandals that stay on your feet). The club also provides tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads.
The club provides food as well and lunch is included on Sunday. We will probably stop somewhere on the way back (depends on what everyone wants to do and how late we get out of there). So, bring some cash with you.
If there are any other questions feel free to bombard me with e-mails.
