Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Blue Ridge Parkway
So, I know you’re thinking, “ugh, I need a new Instagram photo.. I haven’t posted in like a day.” Well what is more badass than an pic of you climbing some boulders?! Here is your perfect opportunity to flood your social media with badassery. Or just rock climb if social media is too mainstream for you.
This trip is intended primarily for novice rock climbers, but I’d like some experienced company. Everyone will be waitlisted to start, so that we have a proper balance of experience, and of course, I’ll need to ensure we have enough drivers. We should just need 1 more driver.
Bouldering is simply rock climbing where the heights achieved are small, and thus there is not a need for a rope. The club, however, will provide padding for falls. The access is pretty easy, but closer to the boulders, you’ll want shoes with ankle support, or good ankles (or both). Again, there is ample range in difficulties, so there is plenty that the experienced among us can enjoy alongside the newly introduced.
We will meet at the Echols Brick wall at 10AM, drive to the Parkway (45min-1hr) and climb for 2-3 hours. The latest we will be back is 4, so you will still have your Sunday evening! Please come early if you need gear from the gear room and are unable to attend the gear room hosted by Lucie tomorrow.
