OVERVIEW

What if… There was an absolutely flambunctious (flamboyant, ambitious, rambunctious) rapid under the New River Bridge?

YOU’LL NEVER BELIEVE IT… THERE IS!!

Before you read any further, you must know that anything you’ve ever been told about paddleboarding is wrong. You see, if you dig through the depths of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and search up the definition of paddleboarding, it will state “Paddleboarding is the repetitive action of falling off a SUP instantly, and then swimming the rest of the rapid.”

We will go to the Fayette station and SUP until sundown. There is a wavetrain coming off of a larger rapid, which isn’t that dangerous itself. You must be comfortable swimming in white water, as this sport has inherent risks. We will repeatedly run this wavetrain with a mix of hanging out, swimming, shallow water bouldering, and all sorts of monkey business. The plan is to meet at Slaughter or wherever we decide upon, and then drive to Fayette Station, SUP, and then go back to Rays. You must be on the SPRGE main carpool to join this trip.

Priority will be given to people with WW swimming experience. Also, we only have one car, so we need one more driver, or else we will have to further limit the number of adventurers.

The wise rat was there before the bridge, yet the wisest rat will remain there after the bridge.

If you have any questions about paddleboarding, please text me at 703-519-6776 or Alana at 703-655-4427.

You need- a swimsuit, a hammock (if you have one) to rest in between turns
We bring pdfs, helmets, paddles, SUPs

Notice – Whitewater sports are inherently dangerous. We lead trips at a level where we feel confident about our ability to keep people on our trips safe. Your safety also depends on you, the honest communication of your abilities and state of being, and your respect for any safety advice.

P.S. Right under the bridge, there is a class III-IV rapid named Fayette station rapid (super creative), which the wavetrain stems from. Depending on the water level, Alana and I may run it, and I don’t recommend following us (unless you are John) since you have to be an experienced class III – IV white water paddleboarder.
