OVERVIEW

Hello goobers
Come be feral with me on Ohill at night. This is for my capstone so I will ask you to take a quick survey before and after your experience. Themes for the night will be mystery, challenge and darkness. It’s a little wonky and a tad experimental, but if you are down to scramble around at night and also do some reflection then this trip is for YOU. If that sounds scary to you… maybe you should also come! Do it scared.

Here’s again what I am thinking about with ferality:
“ I see feral as the borderlands, the inbetweens. Feral creatures are making a way for themselves in and around the structures of the regulated, domesticated world. What I am arguing for here is NOT the sterile sublimity of a mountain peak with no sign of other humans. This is not the wilderness scraped clean and picturesque. This feral principle is the Rivanna river running brown after a storm. It’s the trees covered in ivy on O’Hill. It’s the redbuds breathing in exhaust down the JPA corridor. We live in a world that is so permeable and full of humanity’s influence. It would be a disservice to ignore this fact on the way to becoming more present and better witnesses.”

Timing:
8pm meet outside slaughter
walk up to a spot on O’Hill
8:30 commence feral activities
9:30 done
10pm back down O’Hill

you bring:
clothes and layers that can get dirty
headlamp or light (ideally not your phone)

I bring:
bandanas
bongos
special guests
