Old Rag
What: Old Rag in Shenandoah National Park – About 8 miles long, with a section of rock scrambling, and about 2,500 feet of incline – No more than 6 hours round-trip hike – Fantastic 360 degree views
DRIVERS NEEDED, WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY!!! WILL BE REIMBURSED. Also those with an SNP park pass. (Cost will be $5/person unless we find people with a pass). Everyone will be waitlisted until we find drivers.
Take a break from your finals, and take a big hike up Old Rag! The trip will leave at 6:45AM Saturday morning (sorry for the early start, but we need to beat the crowds to find parking, and it’ll get us back earlier), we will be at the park around 8am, at the peak and eating lunch no later than noon, and then be off the mountain no later than 2:30. That way, you can get in some studying (Club clem!!!) and even go out at night if that’s your style 🙂 This is probably going to be the last Old Rag hike of the semester/season, so let’s leave for winter break in style. It’ll be warm, partly cloudy, with a chance of drizzle. Also, we will move at a fairly fast pace so that we have ample time to enjoy the view up top.
What you will NEED:
2L water MINIMUM (more like 3 or 4)
Backpack for gear
Lunch/Snacks/Medication
Extra clothes (avoid cotton) to peel on/off as needed
Sturdy hiking shoes as there will be some minor rock scrambles
OPTIONAL:
Sunscreen/sunglasses/hat
Camera
Hiking Poles
Extra corrective lenses
