Mossy Creek
Weather is finally warming up a bit. Let’s see if we can’t get a couple big browns on the fly. Mossy Creek is a fly fishing only catch and release fishery. You have to have landowner permission permit to fish this section. If you haven’t gotten one yet you can drive up Saturday to Verona which is about 45 minutes away to get one, otherwise you must already have one to go on this trip seeing as the offices will be closed on Sunday on our way up.
I am planning on leaving here around 9 am. I have room for 1 other person in my truck, and possibly 3 squeezed, but I am making the trip for up to four pending another driver. You will need to provide your own fishing gear- rod, reel, flies, etc. Mossy is strictly no wading, so you don’t need waders. I would recommend wearing pants because the brush around the stream can have some briers sometimes. Again, you will need a landowners’ permission from the fish and game offices in Verona just south of Harrisonburg. If you want to get one tomorrow so you can come if you don’t have one. Call my cel (434) 960-9662 and I will give you directions, etc. The creek is about an hour away total. The fishing should be great this time of the year, and hopefully the water will be up. There is a chance of thunderstorms so bring raingear, and I am planning on returning around mid afternoon.
