Folks, Its an Old Rag 😊

OVERVIEW

Ah, Old Rag. The crown jewel of hikes that are kinda near to Charlottesville. Love it or hate it, you’re only wrong if you hate it. Its almost been six months since I last hiked it so I’m getting itchy for it. The hike itself is about 9 miles, with a very decent uphill section. Please make sure you have at least some hiking experience and are comfortable with a solid rock scramble. However, we will take lots of breaks during this hike (do not fret, this is not a sprint) so if you think you can do it, I’m sure you can!

I tragically do not have a car so we will need one driver (gas reimbursed, priority off waitlist, etc etc etc. You know the drill) Also, people with Park Passes have priority off the waitlist. Wahoo!

Old Rag is now doing ticket reservations to reduce the number of hikers on the trail, so if you get off the waitlist, please go to this website and purchase a $1.00 ticket for October 9 ASAP. I’ll try to very quickly get people off the waitlist to make sure y’all have a heads up! It’s non-refundable, so if something happens (or the weather looks terrible) and I have to cancel the trip, sorryyyyyy. We will also need to pay for a park pass, so that will be six additional dollars per person (unless someone with a park pass signs up). Oh, the cost of nature…

Here’s the schedule for the day:
7:00 AM Meet at the corner of Echol’s dorm
8:00 AM Arrive at the Old Rag parking lot
We’ll eat lunch at the summit <3
~3:00 PM arrive back at Echol’s dorm

What to bring?
– Good hiking shoes/sneakers
– Check the weather beforehand to see how you should dress!
– Plenty of water (at least 2 liters)
– Snacks (I'll bring my beloved costco granola bars 🤩)
– Lunch
-A sense of Whimsy 🙂

P. S. Please only sign up (especially if you’re driving) if you’re sure that you can make it. Since we have to buy tickets, I’d hate to cancel the trip because a driver withdraws from the trip. Live Laugh Love <3
