Bonnycastle Circle
Devil's Marbleyard
Alright everyone, for those of you who get to finish up all your exams this week, lucky. For those of you who have exams both weeks, let’s celebrate by taking a break and going out to natural bridge to scamper amongst boulders.
We depart at 10:30 from Bonnycastle circle and drive 84.9 miles towards Natural Bridge. There are two versions of this hike. The first passes the Devil’s Marbleyard, a hillside of boulders with some as large as a truck, and continues down the Gunter Ridge Trail. The second version adds a 3.0 mile out and back hike along the Appalachian Trail, which reaches one of the most spectacular 360° panoramas in Virginia. I’d _like_ to try the 2nd, but that depends on if I can find the branch off (it adds a 3 mile loop into the trail).
Space is set to 16 people right now with 4 drivers. I might raise it to 20 with 5 drivers, but there is the concern that the parking lot there is tiny (i mean rull small). Bring food for a quick lunch at the top, and water for the entire trek.
