OVERVIEW

In order to be refreshed and geared for your upcoming Creekathon ventures, join me in making some Kombucha on Friday.

Kombucha is a fermented drink that, with some love n’ care, can be easily brewed at home. Our town happens to be teeming with local makers and I have some SCOBYs (symbiotic colonies of bacterial yeast) from a local brand, Nuggets Raw Kombucha, from which it can be made. I’ll go over the procedure of how best to ferment, and can bring some store bought ones so that we can sip away in the great Outdoor wilderness that is the UVA Gardens.

Where: Lile Garden (behind Levering Hall, on the right side of the lawn if you’re facing the rotunda)
When: Friday April 18th, 5:00-6:00pm

What to bring: thirst, a cup + maybe a jar for taking your SCOBY home
What to consider: There won’t be enough SCOBYs for everyone to keep, but there will definitely be enough knowledge + drink to go around!
Cost: $2 to drink (to recompense the store-bought Kombucha), but hangin’ is free

Sign up is currently limited to 8 people so that I can predict how many SCOBYs to bring, but the garden is an open space, so feel free to bring along wandering friends!

Note: Kombucha is known to create a slight buzz..z…but is non-alchoholic via FDA standards (aka you can buy it at any age). So, all are welcome!
