Spring has finally sprung and the weather is getting warmer, so what better time than now to go birding? Lickinghole Creek is a birding hotspot with 200 species listed and it’s only 20 minutes away! The trail is easy to follow and takes us along the creek to the lake, providing an opportunity to spot lots of birds. No previous birding experience is required, but we recommend downloading the Merlin ID app to identify the birds you spot and the eBird app if you want to keep track of your sightings. The only equipment necessary is a pair of binoculars. If you have binoculars definitely bring them, but if not, I will bring some from the gear room.
You are also welcome to bring a camera if you want to take pictures of birds as well!
The plan:
8 am: meet at Echols and drive to the creek
8:20 am: look at all the cool birds
10:10 am: leave
10:30: back at Echols
You should bring:
water
I’ll bring:
binoculars as needed
