OVERVIEW

Want to get outside AND give back before halloweekend festivities? This trip is for you!

Luke and Owen led a trip to MKG a while back and I had a great time and would love to go back, so I thought I’d lead my own! Quoting their trip description, “Morven Kitchen Garden is this super-cool small-scale sustainable farm owned and operated by UVA. It was originally started by students and still employs student interns each season”.

The volunteer work is mostly small manual labor tasks, like harvesting produce, weeding, etc. It’s nothing too strenuous, but make sure to bring water/snacks and wear clothes you’re comfortable getting dirty in.

This trip is beginner friendly! Join if you just want an opportunity to get outside or would like to learn more about what sustainable farming looks like.

Also, as an added bonus is that volunteers get to take home a bit of fresh produce! (maybe even a pumpkin for potential carving, painting, or fall treats…)

The plan
2:30 pm – leave from corner of Echols
3 – 5 pm – volunteer!
5:30 pm – back home and ready to partay!

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST ALSO SIGN UP AT THIS LINK AND FILL OUT THE WAIVER!

Also, DRIVERS NEEDED! Morven Garden is less than 15 miles so you won’t be reimbursed but I don’t have a car so would very much appreciate it :))
