Furnace Mountain Hiking

OVERVIEW

Hey everyone! (especially the cool ones who don’t have friday classes)

I’m super excited to host (probably) the first hiking trip into Shenandoah this semester! The trail I’ve picked out is called Furnace Mountain Trail, the link is below. It’s a very nice-looking hiking trail with 3 overlooks and various other scenery. We’re looking at about 6.5 miles combined there and back with about 1,800ft elevation gain. I don’t intend on going at any crazy pace, so this trip should be pretty accessible to beginners.

What you should bring:
Comfortable shoes that you’re okay with getting mildly dirty
Plenty of water
Snacks or packed lunch if you want
Mask for the car ride

10:00 Leave from The Dell
11:00 Arrive at the trail
2:00 Estimate of when we’ll finish
3:00 Back at UVA

Note: I listed this trip for 4 adventurers, but if we have others who have park passes or cars we can expand the trip.
