GARDENING W/ VISIBLE RECORDS AND LOVE

OVERVIEW

HELLO HELLOOO FELLOW SHREDLIANS!!!! We donnu about you, but Cam and I are feeling very excited to jump into this semester by getting to know Cville and our local lands better. Luckily for us, we live a few miles away from this sweet place called Visible Records, an artist-run studio and community organizing space for localized social justice. And!!!! THEY HAVE A GARDEN!

Actually, they have two gardens: one, Common Field, produces crops for the local Visions of Liberation Free Store, while their other plot, Solitary Gardens, is an offshoot of a nationally-known peaceful movement for prison abolition and redefinition. In these gardens, the plots are made to the exact size of a solitary confinement cell, and people who are currently imprisoned in solitary confinement can request what be grown in this (very small) plot. AND, lucky for us, Visible Records is prepping their garden beds for the spring, so we can join them and SAY HELLOOO TO OUR WORLD.

Because Visible Records is only a few miles away (just past the downtown mall in the Woolen Mills neighborhood, near the restaurant Firefly), we gonna have a BIKING OPTION for dis trip!! No pressure at all to bike, but if you happen to possess one, bring it when we meet at 9:40 and Grace will lead the biking squad as Cam valiantly facilitates the car travel!! If you wanna bike but do not possess a bike or helmet, just let us know and you can use an ODC commuter bike!!

We’ll be back by 12/12:30 upon which we can continue our wondrous Sundays. Bring layers and a schnack if ya want, and we’ll SEE ALL YOU AMAZING HUMANS THERE!!!
