GAULEYFEST CLIMBING

OVERVIEW

!!THIS IS COMPLEMENTARY TO THE GAULEY FEST MAIN TRIP YOU WILL NOT GET OFF UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE WAITLIST FOR BOTH!!

Gauleyfest is epic, but new river sandstone will always be even more epic. After heading down to pillow rock with the hikers and watching the kayakers and rafters do insane things we will head to the promised land (an incredible crag…possibly kaymoor, beauty mountain, or endless). The hike down to pillow rock is pretty steep so wear good shoes for hiking!

See the main Gauley fest trip for more info on Gauley fest logistics– you must pay the Gauley Fest fee to go to Gauley fest ($55), but this gives you access to the festival.

Schedule:
8:30 am– breakfast!
9:30 am– leave for pillow rock
10:00 am– arrive at pillow rock parking area, hike down to the viewing area
10:30 am – 11:30 am– watch the whitewater!!
12:00 pm– in car on way to crag
12:30 – 4:30 pm– Climb!!
5:30 pm– back at camp

You bring:
– climbing harness
– climbing helmet
– climbing shoes
– good hiking / sturdy shoes for the walk to pillow rock and the crag
– chalk
– water (at least 2 liters)
– lunch and snacks (you will also be responsible for bringing food for your meals at Gauley fest)
– layers
