Get Outside: a Day at Franklin (Take Ii)

Weather ran us out last weekend, so let’s try this again. Everyone goes to waitlist so that folks who were signed up last weekend get priority.

IF YOU NEED GEAR you must get it at a gear room time this week. We’ll be leaving before it opens on Saturday.

ONCE AGAIN…..
Hey all you crazy Peakites and Rocky Toppers, the climbing season has started; let’s get outside and have fun! This trip is designed for folks who’ve been climbing a few times and want to really learn how to climb harder. There are 5.7s to 5.12s at the area we’re going to – plenty for everyone to jump on.

Think of this trip as a less structured, outdoors version of the “how to climb 5.10” clinics. You’ll get the chance to really work on route finding skills, climb on limestone and sandstone, and hone your climbing technique.

If you’re a more advanced climber and want to come out and put up routes – please join!

Remember that this is the beginning of the season and it can get quite chilly at the crag. Bring layers! (Last weekend I was wearing a fleece, shell, a light puffy jacket for most of the day). If you’ve got a big puffy jacket, you’ll probably want it. The rock’s really cold during the early season too – stop by Blue Ridge for hand warmers (about $1.50 for 2). Trip requirements: able to belay and tie in, able to climb 5.8 inside, ready for a rockin good time!

Club provides: climbing gear, ga$ money

What to bring: climbing gear you own, lots of layers (pants, warm pref. wool socks, t-shirt, fleece layer, warm jacket, hat, gloves), sturdy shoes for the approach, hand warmers (optional), camera, pack lunch, $$ for dinner
