Old Rag
So I decided that attempting to water ski at Snowshoe would not be too amusing. Rather than fighting the weather, I plan on embracing it.
If you haven’t been to Old Rag, it’s one of the best day hikes in Central Virginia. It is definitely a mandatory Outdoors Club experience.
We would be doing the 7.2 mile loop with a rock scramble to reach the summit. We’ll take pictures for Facebook, eat a packed lunch, and maybe re-enact a lion king scene if there is a nice overlook.
It should take most of the day, so bring a good pair of hiking boots, snacks/lunch, a water bottle, and layers of clothing. We should be out of there before it gets too dark, but just in case, I’ll check out a few headlamps. There may be an entry fee unless I can find someone with a park pass to get us all in.
Also, this trip is definitely pending the fact that this amazing weather will keep up. If you join, I’ll e-mail you by Friday night if I decide to cancel it due to rain, cold, etc. although the weather report right now is promising.
Here’s the trail map that I found:
