Grayson Highlands Camping Trip!!

OVERVIEW

A camping trip to Grayson Highlands to see the ponies, we are very excited. Currently the camping site has eight spots but we will see if we can increase the number!

SCHEDULE:
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7TH
Please get to Echols at 1:45pm. We will leave by 2:00pm! Please don’t be late so we can begin our journey to see our beloved ponies as soon as possible!
6:30pm ARRIVE AT GRAYSON HIGHLANDS RAHHH
6:45pm Set up camp, settle in, chill if we’re not that hungry. Otherwise we’ll make communal dinner and bond and set a fire and such
8:00pm [Flashlight hide and seek] #launching #psychological safety
Off to bed whenever we feel like it

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8TH
7am Awake! Visualize all the ponies we will see today. Commune and eat breakfast, fill up on water,
8:30am Start trekking
“PONIES – There are several herds of feral ponies in the park. They can generally be found by accessing Wilburn Ridge via the Rhododendron Trail from Massie Gap. For their safety, and yours, please enjoy them from a distance and do not pet or feed them.”
BUT birds have tweeted…. There are more ponies by way of AT to the Wilburn Ridge

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 9TH
7am Wake, eat breakfast, pack up!

WE BRING:
4p tent
Stove
Fuel
Lighter
First aid kit
Trowel
Friday simple dinner ? I’m thinkin mac… with sausage… or something…
Food storage… bear can?
Water filter

YOU BRING:
Hiking clothes
Sleeping clothes
Wool socks!!
Gloves, puffer if preferred
Sleeping pad
Sleeping bag + sack for it
Backpacking pack
Hiking shoes + chill shoes (birks, tovas, crocs)
Trash bag to rainproof clothes and gear (can get good ones from gear room)
Raincoat
Headlamp NOT phone flashlight
TP
Ziploc bag for personal trash
FOOD: Breakfast/lunch/dinner for saturday, breakfast and money for lunch for Sunday
Bowl + spoon
Nice ol’ container for H2O
Source of joy…. (book, cards, journal, instrument)
