Turk Mountain Trail, Waynesboro, VA, USA
Heyyyy friends!!!
I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been dying to get out there and see these pretty trees from up high before all their leaves are gone. If you’re feeling the same itch to go crunch leaves and savor the crisp fall air, then come to Shenandoah with me and Evelyn!! We’re going to Turk Mountain, and you can see the AllTrails page here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/turk-mountain-trail
This is a short hike on the south end of Shenandoah that should offer a couple different spots to get some dazzling views and a little bit of rock scrambling. We’ll hike 2.4 miles out-and-back to get to the top with about 700 feet of elevation gain. In other words, it should be a super fun beginner-level hike!! We will need a Shenandoah National Park pass, so if you’ve got one of those, you’ll get priority off the waitlist. Same thing goes for drivers! I have a car and can fit three besides me and Evelyn, but we would love to take more people. Drivers will get reimbursed for gas, plus a tip.
The master plan
12:00pm meet outside Echols
1:00pm get to the trailhead & HIKE!
3:30pm return to trailhead
4:15pm (maybe earlier) get back to grounds
What to bring/wear:
– sturdy shoes appropriate for hiking
– plenty of water
– a snack if you want to graze while we ooh and ahh at the top
* According to the weather app, we can expect a phenomenal 75 degrees on Sunday afternoon, so I don’t think we’ll need to bring layers.
We can’t wait to see y’all out there!!
