OVERVIEW

So this will be a about 8-10 miles on our first day. We will begin our loop along this route http://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/HazelRiver/index.asp We will quickly diverge from this route after the falls and cave(woot woot no idea though and not planning on going far in if real) We will stay up on Hazel Mt on the and camp hear the intersection with Sams Ridge Trail(have kind of scoped camp spots out) know there is several water sources in the area. Then Sunday we have alot of trail options to finish out our loop. Could cut and run or make a longer loop out. Since the details or not settled and I havent completely scoped out the loop I am gonna call this an intermediate trip.

Summary: Intermediate Trip 8-10 miles each day
Temps- low 30s at night- mid 50s in the day
weather- looks good for now
trails- some steep areas few crossings of large streams(i beleive)
Camping-somewhere
food- i gotcha(EAT BREAKFAST before you arrive and bring some snack for drive up and back)

GEAR- the more of your own you have the better. You will be responsible for getting your own from gear room.

If you can HUSTLE ON OVER TO GEAR ROOM Joshua is holding at 6:30.

COLD camping isnt like summer camping

The most difficult part of this trip for most will be temps. So when packing clothes use this rule of thumb. Pack what you think you will need and then bring an extra layer for each part of your body. 50s are that cold but they get to you eventually especially after a night of 30. I am over dramatizing the temps on purpose if you didnt notice.

If you have any questions about what gear you need shoot me an email. I am not gonna put a list because I going to assume you have at least done several long(6-10 miles) day hikes and camped(hopefully in some cold) a couple times if you sign up for trip.

If you have read of this im proud of you because I rambled alot. It should be a juicy time and some beautiful views all over since leaves are gone. Excited to check out the “cave” and falls.

PS 8:45 gets more and more impossible as Fri night goes on so if you have lots of juice you must must drink Fri night then this could be a bad idea for you.
