Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
Hey Climbers! It’s time to get out and go to the New. The fall season is starting. It’s only going to be 80F with a 40% chance of rain – not too shabby for the NRG.
Here’s the plan: We meet up at 5:30 at Echols, stop half way at our favorite Mexican joint, sleep at Ray’s and party with the paddlers. On Saturday, we’ll cook eggs and toast for breakfast. Then we’ll climb at Summersville or Kaymoor – weather and votes depending. Club provides some lunch food, but you should supplement. Dinner will be out on the way back.
Trip requirements: Able to top rope 5.10 cleanly. Serious lack of rope endurance from bouldering all summer. Psyched to climb overhangs in the rain.
We’ll be doing sport climbs from 5.9 to 5.12 and we can set top ropes as needed.
We might do a teeny bit of teaching on this trip for lead climbing, cleaning, and the like, but it’ll be dependent on how tired our forearms get in the first 30min of warm-up.
What to bring: climbing and camping gear you own, your very own utensil, bowl/plate, cup, $$ for dinner, lotsa water (at least 2L), snacks and extra food for yourself, first aid kit, camera, rain gear, and a pack to put it all in
Club provides: climb and camp gear you need, ga$ reimbursement, lodging fees, breakfast and lunch food, and a smashing good time!
