OVERVIEW

There’s this fun little hike called Hidden Rocks that just so happens to also have a bunch of climbing. It used to be just trad and top rope, but a Harrisonburg local made it his Covid project to put up some sport routes. We’ll be heading to that farthest section for some pretty great routes that can be top roped or led on either sport or trad. There’s this one route called Jungle Gym that’s a really fun 5.7 with some great exposure. There are also a ton of 5.6-5.10 climbs that we can play around on. And theres a 4-star 5.13d trad route if that’s more your jam. I personally really like the movement style in this area – the climbs feel very flowy and fun.

If you’re brand new to climbing or trying to get more lead climbs under your belt, this is a great spot to try out.

The crag is a good 1 hour into the hike, so this will be a hike-and-climb trip since the approach is so long. If you’re interested in coming just to do the hike and are okay chilling at the crag, feel free to sign up and let us know. We’ll be taking the hike at a nice chill pace. We’ll plan to spend a total of 2-3 hours hiking and 6 or so hours climbing/chilling at the crag.

The best news: this area is only ~1hr 10min away, so we won’t have to be in the car for forever, plus we’ll still get some very high quality climbing in.
