High Bridge Trail State Park Exploration and Kayaks!

Enjoy high bridges? Need a kayak/whitewater gear?

I need to go down to Farmville to pick up a new boat for the club! Figured I’d make a trip out of it and check out High Bridge Trail State Park just outside of Farmville.

I haven’t been there yet but it looks pretty interesting, based on the name and a bit of research, I would expect a high bridge trail over the Appomattox river. Should be very chill, about a three mile round trip with hopefully the ability to walk down to the river and check things out down there. Should be a nice little afternoon trip and I think this will the first non-whitewater trip I’ve led! Big day!

If you are also in the market for a whitewater kayak or gear, you could come and get one on this trip too. I’ll be getting one of the Dagger Novas from https://paddleva.com/pages/used-boats. The used boat prices here are pretty decent and more reputable than getting a boat from someone random.

Timeline:
12:00PM – Meet at Shrack
1:00PM – Arrive at Appomattox River Company and grab the boat (should be quick)
1:15PM – Get to High Bridge Trail Parking
3:30PM – Finish walking around and head back
4:30PM – Back at Shrack
*Times are best guesses, could be back slightly earlier or later
