Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Saturday is looking nice and clear, so lets get out and enjoy some cool fall weather. Because of all the interest in the last Old Rag hike, I am leading a second one. So, if you didn’t get to go the first time, here’s your chance!
Old Rag is one of the most popular hikes in our region. It is an 8 mile loop with a spectacular rock scramble and views at the top. We should be able to cover the distance in about 4 hours +some extra time for lunch at the top.
What to bring:
-$8.00 entrance fee
-Warm clothing* (it will be chilly).
-Plenty of water
*A note on attire: It will be chilly, especially once we get to the top, so I recommend a few layers and a wind-proof jacket if possible (it can get pretty windy up there). A hat would be a good idea for the top. Keep in mind, you will be sliding against abrasive, sometimes slimy rock at some points, so don’t wear your favorite jeans. Also, sturdy, comfy shoes are a must.
Drivers and people who were not on the first hike will get priority off the wait list.
This trip is, of course, weather dependent. So far, the weather looks great, but I will cancel if things start looking wet.
