“Piedmont Airlines DC-3 slammed into the side of Bucks Elbow Mountain on October 30, 1959. Killed were a crew of three and 23 passengers. One passenger survived but was seriously injured. Phil Bradley spent two days strapped in his seat before the local rescue teams were able to locate and reach the crash site. The cause was a navigational error during an Instrument Landing System approach. The crash site is approximately 1.5 miles North West from the Memorial Site and 500 ft. from summit of the mountain.”
