Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Riprap Hollow, Shenandoah Park
Come escape the heat and hike to one of the cooler, clearer swimming holes in the area! The swimming hole on the Shenandoah Valley side of the mountain is uncrowed, always cool, and alongside the Riprap trail. We will first hike up to the wild blueberry patch and see if there’s anything to pick this year and up to a beautiful viewpoint over the Shenandoah and then back down to the swimming hole. There’s also a nice little bouldering spot we can detour to for a moment if anyone’s interested. Route is about 6 miles total. We will approach it from the Valley side: 64 West to exit 99, 250 west, 340 north to Crimora Mines Rd. to Black Bear Rd., so no park pass is needed
The club provides a seat in a car and carpool gas money.
