Hiking Humpback with my dog?!?! (attempt 2)

OVERVIEW

I am reposting this as I was a little too excited and hasty and forgot to add questions about driving to the questionnaire. I’ll be giving priority to the order the waitlist was in before I reposted the trip (while also ensuring someone can drive to help take more people).

Hey y’all! It’s parents weekend this weekend and I convinced mine to bring my insanely fluffy and very energetic siberan husky with them. His name is Koda and you can see a picture of him in the trip photo. I’ve always wanted to take Koda hiking but my mom has always been concerned about him getting too hot but now with it finally being cold, he should be just fine! I also have yet to go to Humpback so I’m doing the old 2 for 1 here.

My dad will also be joining as he is tired of hearing about my adventures and only seeing pictures and wants to experience one for himself.

but some basic deets: 4.2 or so miles with 1100 ft of gain. I plan to do the route such that we start out and hike 1 mile to the view point (which this mile will have all the elevation so it will be steep!) and then take a nice long break at the viewpoint and see some views before heading back down the ~3 mile easy way down.

the schedule:
9 am meet at echols (pls let the roads be open uva gods)
9:30ish arrive at trailhead and begin hiking
12ish done hiking?
12:30ish back at grounds

I don’t really think the trip will take until 1 pm but i’m putting that just in case. my dad and I do plan on going to the football game though so we will have incentive to get back in time to get ready for that

to bring:
good hiking shoes/boots! – this one is steep and involves a good bit of rock hiking
layers! as i’m sure you’ll feel this week, it is getting cold. the high is like 65 for saturday but it will be colder early in the morning and being high up!
a backpack to hold your stuff
at least 2 liters of water
snacks if you want
a million “good boys” to tell koda

DRIVERS:
we have one car which we should be able to fit 3 people plus me, my dad, and koda in but i’d love to bring more people so if you can drive sign up!
drivers get priority, gas paid for, and a 20% tip!
