What’s up ODC we’re hiking The Priest. This is definitely an intermediate hike, 3000ft of elevation gain and 9miles. Unless you’re from Colorado and that’s light work for you, in which case I don’t want to hear it. Me and J Beezy have been eyeing this one for a minute and the timing is perfect. Should be super pretty with the fall foliage on a cool day. Also it’s in a National Forest which is the superior federal land making it free to hike. (Promise you I’m never paying that $30 shenandoah daypass)
Here’s the sched:
10am- leave echols
11am- reach the Trailhead
11am-6pm- hike (budgeted for breaks and lunch, may be shorter)
6pm- otw back
7pm- back at UVA (or maybe dinner if heads are down)
To bring:
Layers, might be windy up there!
A pack lunch
At least 2L water, I’m taking more
Good hiking footwear
Gumption
The map is wrong and I can’t fix it, we ain’t NEVER going to Bama tho Go Vols
