Homoclimbtastic 2023 (Queer Climbing at the New River Gorge)

OVERVIEW

Homoclimbtastic is exactly what it sounds like. Very homo. Very climbtastic. Queer climbers from all over will congregate at the New River Gorge for an extended weekend full of climbing. The event runs Thursday through Sunday, but we will drive down Friday and stay until either Sunday or Monday.

Because this trip is so small, we can accommodate either novice or experienced climbers, so feel free to sign up regardless of experience level. There will also be ample opportunity to network with other experienced climbers outside our group.

Our little ODC group will have a private AAC campsite that accommodates 4 people. Note that because ODC’s summer reimbursement policy does not cover lodging expenses, each person will need to pay for their own camping. This comes to $8/person/night, or $32 total for each person.

Food will be on your own. We may decide to eat out for group meals occasionally, or folks may decide they’d rather cook over a camp stove.

Gear YOU bring:
– Harness
– Helmet
– ATC + locking biner
– Climbing shoes
– Chalk
– Other personal climbing gear
– Water bottles (at least 2L capacity, although 4L is recommended)
– Crag snacks
– Approach shoes
– At least one change of clothes (please, for your tentmates)
– Swimwear??? (if people want to swim)
– Sleeping bag
– Toiletries/medications
– Food
– Cooking gear
– Money for camping (Venmo to Victor is fine)
– Money for eating out (optional)

Abby and I will bring tents, a sport rack, a trad rack, a stick clip, and two ropes for group use.
