OVERVIEW

Late summer and fall are easily the best seasons to hit the crags and soak up a few more climbing days before the frost settles in. I cannot begin to explain my excitement about the crisp West Virginia rock-filled days and nights that are sure to come.

That being said, a successful weekend among the rocks includes safe gear and healthy ropes. Do you have your own rope that you want to learn how to check for damage? Are you not sure how long a climbing rope can safely catch falls? Do you want to help me out and check the gear room ropes so we can all the sooner get after it outside this fall? Do you want to just come hang out in the gear room with me on Wednesday evening and talk about climbing??? Do you have things you can teach me about ropes and climbing?? (probably)

If you answered yes – hooray! I’ll be hanging out in the gear room at 6:45 this coming Wednesday afternoon to go over some techniques for checking climbing gear for damage and overuse so that we can ensure we can have the safest sends possible this year. Seriously, this is an important thing to know if you mess arounds with ropes a lot and will help enable us to lead climbing trips sooner this year! We will be checking our ropes for exterior and interior damage to see if its time to retire them or not. Come learn what I know and teach me what you know and let’s just talk climbing in general to get inspired to get outside. Maybe we can even tie some knots. You don’t need to bring anything unless you have your own rope that you would like to check for damage alongside the gear room ones.

TLDR: Come check climbing ropes and talk about climbing and life with me in the gear room this upcoming Wednesday at 6:45 pm!!!

Directions to gear room:
Start at Echols Dorm
Go right on McCormick
Turn right on Alderman Rd
Take a left on Leake Drive
Walk to the end of the road. There are several buildings and parking on either side.
Pass a picnic table on the right. Keep going!
Walk straight to the first big maintenance building directly ahead. Walk behind the building on the left side. Walk up the stairs
End: Knock on the door or text me at 540-553-1367 if you get really lost

xoxo
