Humpback stargaze

OVERVIEW

Let’s be real, its too dang hot outside for a humpback day hike 🙃 so I propose we go hit up ye old humpback rocks for some sick stargazing and (hopefully) cooler temps! If you’ve never been to Humpback before, it is the quintessential hike around, famous for sunsets and sunrises, but we are going to hit it up for its wonderful stargazing (yay for no light pollution!)

Here’s the deal:
-Humpback, about a mile up, pretty steep. https://www.hikingupward.com/gwnf/humpbackrocks/
-Meet at Echols @ 8:30pm
-Drive to Humpback, start hike ~9pm
-Summit, stargaze, soulsearch ~9:30pm
-Observe the vast expanse of stars (and maybe even catch the not-so-full moonrise)
-Hike out, drive back, back on grounds ~11pm at the latest

What to bring:
-headlamp
-shoes you feel comfortable hiking in!
-extra layers to wear at the summit, it gets chilly and windy up there!
-1L of water + snacks

DRIVERS NEEDED!
-drivers get priority off the waitlist. The club reimburses for gas +50% tip!
-drivers need to show up to Echols with a full tank of gas!

Due to COVID precautions you must be willing to wear a mask for the duration of the car ride to and from humpback!
