I like the james, even when it is balls low (intermediate whitewater kayak)

OVERVIEW

So i have this thing where i have a toxic relationship with the james river. it is so convenient, and honestly so fun, but sometimes it is JUST REALLY LOW WATER like for a long time. but thats ok. because the james is a great river at any water level. anyways come paddle with me.

I’m planning on paddling two laps of the lower falls of the James with rapids ranging from class II-III. If we have overwhelming signups of a more beginner experience level, we can do the upper falls of the james (class I-II) into the lower as a warmup. Either way, you should have either:
a) paddled class III whitewater somewhat recently (within past year or two)
b) have or are working on a solid kayak roll

The Plan:
Sunday Morning pre-10am – possible bodos run? you will be contacted with details
10am – meet at echols with our gear
– drive to 14th st. takeout in richmond and set shuttle
– paddle ze lower twice– munch lunch between? or paddle both upper and lower and munch lunch on river
– take out, reset shuttle and head back to cville to eat more food tbh
– 5 should hopefully be the latest we get back – counting on a 3ish hr lap?

What to Bring
– Kit! Helmet, PFD, Skirt, Paddle, Watercraft, throwbag if ur cool
– it will be chilly! drytop, drysuit, wetsuit, clothes that will be warm when wet
– a lunch/snacks? water for sure
– a bag to stuff dry if you’re into that
– change of clothes and towel if you’re into that
– money for food maybe

If you don’t have those kayaking things or warm things, that’s ok. Just let us know and we’ll make sure you get em.
