Independence Weekend Rock Climbing at the New River Gorge!

OVERVIEW

Freedom! America! Rock climbing! Swimming!

The time has come to yet again light a few candles on America’s birthday cake and sing a joyous song for the Land of Freedom. And what better place to do it than West By God Virginia?!!?!

New River Gorge has over 3000 sport and trad climbing routes. We will choose crags based on group preference and weather, but most likely we’ll be at Summersville Lake a lot cause they’re forecasting highs in the 90s. Which is great because they’ve got everything from 5.7 to 14b!

Minimal instructions will be given on this trip but you can review the skills that you already know.

Trip Requirements: Know how to tie in, lead belay, and clean the anchor. Able to climb 5.9 on top rope. If you do not meet any of the requirements, sign up anyway and I might be able to accommodate you.

You provide: Plenty of water, personal climbing gear you own, money, backpack, weather appropriate clothes, towel, toiletries, headlamp, first aid kit, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, approach shoes, sandals, camera, and positive vibrations.

Club Provides: Ga$ money for drivers or a ride in a car, any camping/climbing gear you do not own, meaningful social interaction and exciting outdoor adventure. Club will pay for your lodging, food, and gas!

You are responsible for arranging gear room and checking out any personal climbing and camping gear.

Drivers and lead climbers/belayers get priority. Please do not sign up for this trip if you can not attend the entire trip. I am flexible on leave/return times! Let me know if you want to go but the current times don’t work for you! Email me with any questions.
