Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Into extreme hiking or trail running? Is your cardio in tip-top shape and itching for a strenuous day of hiking???
I am beginning to train for the 4-state challenge (http://www.backpacker.com/trips/maryland/appalachian-trail-four-state-challenge-pa-va/ … 45ish miles in 24 hours) and am looking to start by completing the Three Ridges hike (~14.4 miles) in 5 to 5.5 hours (i’ll do longer hikes later on, if anyone is interested). I chose this route because I’ve done it before and it’s fairly strenuous at points. I do plan on jogging small parts of it, I plan on taking very few stops, and I want some passionate-ass backpackers to join me.
I ask that, before joining this trip, you realize that 15 miles in a little over 5 hours is not easy and you come ready for a workout. This is fairly intensive and you should have some endurance training in ya.
We’ll be traveling ~light~ and depart from Echol’s side door at 7am (arrive to Three Ridges around 8 ). I’d like to get most of the hike done before the sun becomes to overbearing. We should be back sometime around 2 or 3pm.

*Everyone will be waitlisted at first with preference going to another driver to allow more people to join the fun.
You will need:
-a light backpack
-athletic clothing that allows for hiking during the day… VERY light layers that won’t weigh you down
– 3-4 liters of water (basically… lots of it)
– Broken in sneakers/boots/running shoes
-tissues, toilet paper, bandana or whatever you need to wipe sweat idk man
-ENTHUSIASM (but actually. we’ll need it.)
