Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Gotta scratch that itch. Headed out to Old Rag Sunday for some Yosemite-style granite cracks and a nice stout approach.
This is an intermediate/advanced climbing trip. At minimum, you need to have completed a Climbing Workshop or be up-to-date Belay Certified at Peak or another reputable gym. Priority will go to lead climbers/belayers, and everyone will be waitlisted by default. That being said, you don’t need to be a mega-crusher to have fun at Old Rag; there are plenty of moderate routes.
Disclaimer: Old Rag is a bit of a gnarly approach, and I’ve never been before. My understanding is that finding some of the routes will be as much of an adventure as climbing them, so be prepared to earn your lunch.
We’ll depart from Echols at 9AM, drive an hour, hike an hour in, climb for like 4ish hours, hike out, then head home, aiming to be back by 6PM.
-Sturdy hiking shoes for the approach
-Lunch & snax
-Growth mindset/winning attitude
*There are no gear rooms between now and Sunday, but let me know in your responses if you need shoes/harness/device, and what sizes, and I’ll bring them for you. I’ll take care of ropes/helmets/etc for the group
