Take a break from papers, projects, jobs, etc and go kayaking!
We may go to somewhere in WV (Class IV or higher), The Lower James through Richmond (III at normal levels – its really high right now thou!). Or we may go to Balcony Falls (Class II-III, but fun at higher water and good place to practice skills). Or the Maury class III-IV. Lots of options!
You must have a solid roll and good boat control to come on this trip, as it will be at least a Class III run AND THE WATER IS COLD! Swim team tryouts are discouraged.
I’ll be waitlisting everyone till I screen your skills.
You provide: kayaking gear, cold water gear, lunch/snacks, towel, warm dry clothes for after, bathing suit/clothes that can get wet, non-cotton layers, river footwear (closed toe preferable), id/money for possible libations afterwards
Club provides: gas $$, kayaking and cold weather gear if you need it.
Exact venue will be chosen Friday night based on whats running and who signs up, and I’ll communicate the meeting time/location. I’ve penciled in a 8 AM departure 10 PM return in case we end up in WV, but the day will be shortened on both ends if we stay instate.
