OVERVIEW

The trails near Harrisonburg could be the best in the state! Sure, I say that about every place I go, but this time I really mean it. I’ve only done this ride twice, and many years ago, but I remember thinking, ‘This could be the best ride in the state!’ Reddish knob is a popular tourist site as you can drive to the top and see a magnificent 360 view with VA on one side and the WV on the other. We’ll bike up the road for a 7-9 mile quad burner mountain climb then stop to rest and snack while enjoying the wonderful views of the VA and WV valleys below. From the top we’ll hit the trails for some fantastic ridge riding followed by some of the best downhill riding you’ll ever do. The ride is quite aerobic and technical so please do not sign up unless you are in good shape and have some technical mountain biking experience. If you want to acquire some experience to be able to go then sign out a club bike and hit the local Ohill or Walnut Creek Park trails. For more info about that or other questions/comments, please email or call me – dclark@virginia.edu; 434-962-9737.

The Club provides: Bikes, helmets, ga$, seat in car, extra tubes, tools, and Bike carriers for cars or SUVs.

You should bring: Bike, helmet, water, snacks, money for food, water, hydrate yourself before the ride, appropriate athletic attire (no baggie pants), layers that you can shed, backpack to shed said layers into, extra socks, change of clothes, spare tubes, and lots of water.
