Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Douthat State Park
Douthat State Park has some of the finest single track in VA (a few years ago it was mentioned in Blue Ridge Outdoors as one of the top 3 mountain bike destinations in VA!). I’ve been there twice and LOVED the two rides I did. The last one I did started with a tough, technical climb up to some awesome views, followed by a ridge-line roller coaster, and ended with a fantastic, seemingly endless downhill (with numerous switchbacks). We could do that and then explore other trails, or pick a different loop. I plan to be on the trial for about 4 hours, so be ready for some epic riding! Almost every ride will have a great deal of uphill riding, so do not sign up unless you have some mountain biking experience and are in decent shape. The club has 6 nice front suspension Gary Fisher Tassajara (various sizes) and helmets.
The weather is supposed to be in the mid 50s, so you may want to bring a long sleeve shirt. It’s not supposed to be hunting season, but if you have something that is bright, wear it (you never know…).
The size is limited to how many bikes and people my car can carry — I’ll up it if another driver signs up.
