OVERVIEW

This is a catch-all trip for any Intermediate – Advanced kayaking trips somewhere in PA/MD/WV area (since it doesn’t rain enough in VA).

Some possible candidates are:
Lower NRG, Lower Yough, Cheat Canyon, etc.

TIMES/PLAN/LEGAL:
I am NOT “leading” on any of these rivers, I am only coordinating some logistics and transportation to the rivers, you are responsible for your own safety and the activities you choose to participate in while on this trip, and you agree to have read and will abide by the American Whitewater Safety Code http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Wiki/safety:start?
Those with the appropriate skills may join as “Common Adventurers”

There is a Lower Yough “first-timer friendly” trip being coordinated by Coastals (NOT Outdoors@UVA) on Sat 7/28 you can get more info on it here: http://www.coastals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11707
While their Official Club Trips are primarily intended for paid members, I think one freebie trip is permitted, but excess freeloading will bring bad karma or something. Anyways, coordinate directly with the trip coordinator if you wish to participate on that particular trip (and sign up for this one if you wish to be transported there).

The guys from AMONGSTIT.TV will be at Wilderness Voyagers in Ohiopyle on 7/28 to show their films “No Man’s Land” and “Canoe Movie 2” – The earlier focuses on the poster child of VA stream access issues.

The times indicated are when I’m personally planning to leave/return for the greater ohiopyle paddling area. Additional vehicles may leave at other times which may include daytrips, indicate schedule constraints in the Q&A.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Everyone gets waitlisted till I screen your skills, which should include: Reliable combat roll and/or stellar bracing/leaning skills such that you don’t have to roll.

FOOD:
I’m not currently planning to do any group food shopping and will probably personally eat out several meals, however the club can still reimburse up to $4/person/day for camp food, so if you feel so compelled to shop for yourself, by all means do so – and save your receipts. If you want me to bring my grill or other appliances – ask!

CAMPING:
We’ll camp at Beeners Campground ($12/night which the club would cover $5 of) bring extra $ for excess camp fees

FEES:
I’ve put $30 as the fee – which should cover excess camping fees, LY river permits & bus tokens. Bring additional $ if you plan to eat out.

Club Provides: Boats & Gear if you need them – Signup/Tell me early if you have any gear needs!

You Provide: Any paddling and camping gear you already have, rain dances
