Intermediate Climbing at the New

The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend so let’s go climbing! Crags will be decided based on the group composition, but most likely Summersville Lake and Kaymoor.

We meet at Echols @ 8am Sat morning and drive 3.5 hours to WV and climb rest of the day. Lunch will be provided and diner will most likely be at Pies & Pints Pizza so bring $$ (~$8-12). We camp Sat night at a campground. Then we climb all day Sunday (breakfast and lunch will be provided) and drive back to cville. Dinner will most likely be fast food.

Club pays for gas, camping, and some of the food. If we go to the lake, there are great places to swim so bring your swimsuit. Expect half an hour approach time on rocky trails.

Minimal teaching will happen in this trip but you can always review the skills you know.

Trip Requirements: Know how to tie in and belay a top rope. Able to climb 5.9 solid on top rope (5.9+). Email me if you are not sure.

You provide: Plenty of water, personal climbing gear you own, money, swimsuit, backpack, warm clothes (chilly in the mountains and at night), towel, toiletries, headlamp, first aid kit, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, approach shoes, sandals, camera, and good karma.

Club Provides: Ga$ money for drivers or ride in a car, any camping/climbing gear you do not own, camping, some of the food, and exciting outdoor adventure.

We cannot get into the gear room at 8am so check out all the gear that you need on your own – Gear room on Wed @6pm and Thurs @5pm. I cannot take you if you have not checked out proper climbing and camping gears by Sat morning.

Drivers and lead climbers/belayers get priority. Please do not sign up for this trip if you can not attend the ENTIRE trip.
