New River Gorge
Ah, springtime at the New. Nothin’ better.
Friday:
Leave in the late afternoon or evening, time flexible, then camp at Ray’s or the AAC (American Alpine Club) campground.
Saturday & Sunday:
Get yo’ climb on. Crag destination TBD depending on group interest. Camp again on Saturday night, drive back to Charlottesville on Sunday night.
Requirements: Top-rope at least 5.9 clean, but sport/lead skills are definitely a plus! Interested in learning to lead or practicing those skills? Hit me up – we’ll do our best to pass some help along.
We’ll be mostly sport climbing on this trip, with top-ropes optional and potential trad time as well.
You provide:
– Food for the WHOLE trip (meals and snacks)
– Camping gear if you have it
– Climbing shoes, harness, and chalk if you have them
– Multiple bottles for water
– Headlamp
– Both warm and cool weather clothes (it’s an odd time of year…)
– Raingear
We provide:
– Gas
– Any necessary gear from the gear room
– Camping fees
– A durn good time
