33 U Circle (Emily's House)
James River - Richmond
Let’s go kayaking! We are going to leave at 9am, which should put us on the water by 11. This will give us plenty of time to take our time, play a lot, and make it back to Charlottesville for the Creekathon at 3pm.
**If you are planning on attending the Creekathon, make sure you sign up for that trip IN ADDITION to this trip.**
The Lower James through Richmond is a short, Class III run with some fun play spots. The water will most likely be above 5ft, which means you definitely need to have a good roll and good boat control to come on this trip. In addition, the water and air will be chilly, which heightens the risk should you swim.
This trip, as always, is weather and water-level dependent.
I’m waitlisting everyone at the moment; if I don’t know you and your ability, I’ll send you an email to check in on what your kayaking experience is, just for safety’s sake. (Its okay if I don’t know you, still sign up, I just want to make sure you’ve got the experience for this river since the water is chilly).
You provide: gear if you have it (5 essentials), lunch/snacks, towel, warm dry clothes for after, bathing suit/clothes that can get wet, non-cotton layers for kayaking, river shoes (closed toe preferable)
Club provides: gear if you need it, gas $$
