OVERVIEW

The Rivanna Trail Foundation preserves a green belt circling the entire city of Charlottesville. Part of the preservation effort is a 20 mile loop of trails following the Rivanna River, Moore’s Creek, and Meadow Creek.

We’ll start the ride from mile marker 0 down at Riverview Park and ride more than halfway around the loop to Fontaine Ave. In addition to 12 miles on the trail, we’ll cover about 4 miles on the road to Riverview Park and another 1 mile from Fontaine back to Echols (because not using cars is awesome). That’s a total of about 17 miles, so be sure to bring plenty of water and a light snack.

The trail ranges from paved walkways to single track trails. There are many stream crossings and parts of the trail coincide with city roads. The Rivanna trail will change the way you think about getting around Charlottesville.

Club Provides: bikes and helmets
You bring: water, a snack, and layers. Baggy pants will be eaten by the chain.
