Intermediate Rock Climbing at the New!

OVERVIEW

Dying to climb some splitter cracks or dance up a techy face?! Come climb the crimptastic sport routes as well as the splitter and not so splitter cracks of the New River Gorge this weekend!

The plan is to leave from Bonnycastle Circle (near old dorms) on Saturday at 6AM and head directly to the Summersville Lake Area to do some sport climbing. Saturday night we will stay at the American Alpine Club Campground, which is super close to the climbing. After probably being shut down by some of the best cracks in the Southeast we’ll head back to UVA.

You don’t need to know how to trad or sport climb to come. Anyone who can climb 5.8ish and up on top rope is welcome to come. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn how to trad or sport climb to do so!

I will provide all the group climbing gear (protection, ropes, draws,…), but please bring your own personal climbing gear.

What you need to bring:
-Climbing shoes
-Climbing harness
-Climbing helmet
-Belay device
-Food/money for food
-Water (at least 2 liters)
-Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag/pad,…)
-Rain gear

What the Club Provides:
-Camping fees
-Gas
-Gear, if you need it
