Intermediate Rock Climbing: New River Gorge

OVERVIEW

Beautiful weather for this december weekend — let’s take advantage. We’ll leave saturday morning, drive to the Gorge (~3 hours) and climb until dark. Then, we’ll have dinner somewhere, camp saturday night and climb again all day sunday. We’ll return sunday night (11ish?; if you need to be back earlier, please don’t sign up).

For those who haven’t been, the Gorge has some of the best climbing this side of the Rockies — great sandstone faces. We can climb at whichever areas people prefer but will try to make sure that there are relatively moderate climbs available (at least 5.9s and probably a few easier climbs as well). You should know how to belay and tie-in in order to come along.

Note: we will leave promptly @ 7:30 am saturday morning; please don’t sign up if you have alarm problems (e.g. Aarash).

I plan to keep the trip relatively small so as not to ‘conquer’ the climbing areas.

Club provides: Whatever climbing/camping gear you need, a ride, and lunch for sunday.

You provide: Lunch for saturday and money for 2 dinners and 1 breakfast. Also, plenty of water & decently sturdy shoes.
