Intermediate White Water Kayaking – Play Paddling

OVERVIEW

I know a lot of you kayakers out there that have run rivers would like to try a different aspect of the sport – play paddling. I know a great place to learn or work on your moves – the middle James. The Balcony Falls run has a couple nice surf waves, spin holes, and wave trains for wave wheels (at current water level and lower). The club’s boats are all good river runners and good surf boats, but I’ll also be bringing some play boats if anyone is interested in giving one a try.

In order to go on this trip – you need to have taken the intro class with me or have similar experience, and YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO ROLL. You don’t have to have a bomb proof roll, but must know how to do it and have successfully done it a few times. The Club provides – gear, gas $$, transportation

You should bring – water, snacks, swim wear (including footwear that can get wet), towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, $$ for dinner, pack a lunch
