Intermediate White Water Kayaking – the James Through Downtown Richmond

OVERVIEW

Richmond offers a unique white water run with its various rapids and skyline in the background. We’ll run this section of the James as it flows alongside downtown Richmond with some class 2 and 3 rapids (at current flow), including area famous Hollywood Rapid. In order to be qualified for this trip you must have taken the intro trip with me or have similar experience, have lots of prior river experience in at least class 2 rapids, and have a decent flat water roll. So that I can screen your experience you will be added to the waitlist upon joining, then I will move you to the trip list if you are qualified. I will already be in Richmond paddling the section above this one (class 1-2; posted as an adventure – please join me!) so will coordinate to either meet you in town in the morning (9am at Echols) if you are going on both trips, or at the put-in for the lower run. I plan to be there at around 6pm so am putting a meet time of 4:45 at Echols to give you time to carpool and get to Reedy by 6pm.

The Club Provides: Boats, skirts, helmets/noseplugs, paddles, pfds, paddle jackets, wetsuits, booties, boat transportation, gas money.

You should bring: your boat and gear, swimwear, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, water, snacks, money for food after the trip (Legends?)
